Meet our new doctors!

Dr. Carmenates attended medical school in San Jose, Costa Rica, and completed her residency at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston Family Practice Program at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and LBJ Hospital. A native of Cuba, Dr. Carmenates is fluent in English and Spanish and delivers care with a family-centered focus. Her clinical interests include hypertension, diabetes and adolescent medicine.
Board certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Carmenates is a member of the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society and is president elect of the Hispanic American Medical Association. The current chair of family medicine at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, she serves as a clinical instructor in family medicine at the UT Medical School and as a volunteer clinical faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine. A skilled and compassionate caregiver, Dr. Carmenates empowers her patients to improve their own health by making well-informed, positive lifestyle choices.
Carmen Herrera, M.D. - Family Medicine
Dr. Herrera completed her undergraduate studies at Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas, and her medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School at Houston. She was chief resident in the Memorial Family Medicine program of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where she completed her residency training. With a background in clinical research, Dr. Herrera is interested in treating diabetes, hypertension, asthma and allergies.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Herrera offers well-woman exams and treats patients of all ages. She resides in Sugar Land, where she enjoys the pace of semi-rural community life, and garage sale shopping on a weekly basis. Dr. Herrera likes outdoor activities, fishing, regular exercise, and spending quality time with her husband and daughter.
